(Vancouver, BC) – The BC Doctors of Optometry (BCDO) would like to announce that Vernon-based Optometrist, Dr. Amanda Farley, has been elected as the Association’s new President effective immediately. Dr. Farley will become President after serving on the BCDO Board of Directors for two consecutive years, and after seven years of actively advocating for the Association’s mandate across BC.

“I am thrilled to be the new president of an Association I have been passionately involved in over the years,” says Dr. Farley. “The eye care industry is constantly evolving in BC and I am honoured to be at the forefront of this change.”

“As optometry in BC continues to advance and evolve as a profession, I believe it is essential to have a Board of Directors in place who are reflective of all generations of optometrists and styles of practice to best represent optometry in BC,” remarks Dr. Farley.

Dr. Farley is an Associate at Vernon Optometry where she has been practicing for the past four years. She originally began practicing optometry at Complete EyeCare in Abbotsford prior to moving to Vernon.

The BCDO Board of Directors would like to officially welcome Dr. Farley, and thank former President Dr. Gurpreet Leekha for his dedication to the Association and his considerable efforts towards moving the profession forward.
