Vancouver, May 9, 2018 – BC Doctors of Optometry (BCDO) is pleased to announce that Nanaimo-based doctor of optometry, Dr. Johnathan Lam, was elected as the Association’s new President effective immediately. Dr. Lam became President after serving on the BCDO Board of Directors for the past year as Vice-President.  He also actively advocated for the Association as the Government Relations Chair.

“I am pleased to be elected as the new president of the Association. I am proud of our profession and look forward to continuing the great work of our past-presidents,” says Dr. Lam. “Doctors of optometry are responsible for maintaining and improving eye-health in BC and we are the primary source of vision, eye health, and eyewear needs in communities across the province.”

Dr. Lam is a life-long resident of Nanaimo and has practiced at FYidoctors in Nanaimo since 2001.

He began his optometric career in 100 Mile House and Williams Lake after earning his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo.

The BCDO Board of Directors would like to officially welcome Dr. Lam and thank former President Dr. Amanda Farley for her dedication and leadership during her term.
