BC Doctors of Optometry

Vancouver, December 7, 2023 – At the end of March, our EyeSafe team made a great pivot in the face of ongoing supply issues by removing their flat-style frames from the EyeSafe program. The team extended support to all participating members during the transition in waiving all restocking fees on returned frames until the end of May 2023. During the months that followed, Eyesafe BC also purchased back over 600 unwanted frames from participating members’ clinics, including 116 of them that were obsolete and without warranty or manufacturer support.

With the help of Dr. Paul Geneau, we took a step further and donated these obsolete frames to the Canadian Vision Care charity for use in their Africa Project in Malawi. For more information about the Africa Project and how you can help, click here.

We would like to sincerely thank every member’s clinic that returned unwanted safety frames to us and replaced them with current models. Over the last two years, we have removed over 700 obsolete safety frames from circulation in BC and donated them to charitable causes. Give yourselves a pat on the back!
